FODMAP — Modify
Replace onion with spring-onion greens; use garlic-infused oil.
Ingredients
Beef
- 350 g thinly-sliced beef (sirloin, top round, flank)
- ½ red onion, sliced into rings
Marinade
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 1–2 tbsp calamansi juice, to taste (or lime juice / vinegar)
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
Method
Marinate
- Combine the beef, soy sauce, calamansi juice, minced garlic, sugar, and black pepper in a bowl.
- Gently massage the marinade into the meat until evenly combined. Cover and let marinate for 30–60 minutes.
Cook the beef
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Squeeze excess marinade from the beef and fry for 3–5 minutes until just cooked through. Work in batches to avoid overcrowding. Set aside.
Build the sauce
- In the same pan, add the onion rings. Cook for 5–10 minutes until they soften and become translucent.
- Pour in the remaining marinade and the slurry. Mix to create the sauce.
- Return the beef to the pan and toss to combine.
Serve
Serve with a side of rice and veggies.
