FODMAP — Modify

Use garlic-infused oil; swap honey for maple syrup.

Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 chicken thighs, boneless skin-on
  • Salt and pepper
  • ¼ cup cornstarch

Soy glaze sauce

  • 2½ tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2½ tbsp honey
  • 1½ tbsp garlic, minced
  • ½ tbsp five-spice powder

Method

Mix the sauce

  1. Combine the soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, garlic, and five-spice powder.

Coat and sear

  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. Coat the chicken with a thin layer of cornstarch on both sides.
  3. In a pan, drizzle in oil and turn the heat to medium-high. Once hot, add the chicken skin-side down.
  4. Pan-fry the chicken for 4 minutes per side until crispy and golden brown. Remove and set aside.

Glaze

  1. Pour the sauce into the pan, mix, and simmer for 30 seconds.
  2. Return the chicken to the pan and cook 1 minute per side on high heat.
